We know attending a church for the first time can be intimidating, so below are a few of the most frequently asked questions from people thinking about making a visit:
-
What will the worship services be like?
Vibrant! The service begins as you enter the Sanctuary, greeting, sharing, and laughing with one another. Or, you might choose to sit quietly and look over the bulletin and weekly newsletter.
Our worship could be described as classically modern, grounded on the rich tradition of our Lutheran heritage but spoken with a fresh language to meet today’s world. The service is filled with singing, prayer, and relevant biblical teaching. Communion is offered weekly, and occasionally there may be Baptisms or testimonies from individuals or missionaries.
-
What will the music be like?
Beautiful! Uplifting! Our traditional worship is typically pipe organ led, but occasionally music may be led by piano, acoustic guitar, or voices alone. Modern worship employs a wide variety of musical expression in a contemporary way.
-
How long is worship?
All services typically last about an hour.
-
What is the dress code?
We believe God is more interested in our heart than on what we wear. Some choose to “dress up” for worship but many come dressed in what makes them comfortable. You will see men in suits and ties, golf shirts and slacks, as well as plaid shirts and jeans. You will see women in dresses as well as slacks. “Mortals look on the outward appearance but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

What about children and worship?
We love seeing families worship together. If you have little ones who have busy hands during worship we have special bags loaded with things to keep them engaged during worship. These bags are located at the Welcome Center in the back of church. If you need help finding them, ask an usher or greeter and they’d be happy to assist.
If, at any time during the service your child needs to release some energy there is a nursery available for your use. Many more ideas are in the works for Children and Family Ministry at Redeemer. Come be a part of this exciting time for us as a church as we redefine this ministry.
